Livestock Manager — Terms and Conditions
1. Who supplies the app
Livestock Manager is supplied under the Brightworx Studio brand ("we", "us").
- Support and privacy contact: admin@brightworxstudio.com.
- Website: https://brightworxstudio.com.
- Effective date and terms version: 27 September 2026 / 2026-09-27.
These terms govern your use of Livestock Manager. Google Play's applicable terms also govern your dealings with Google. The Privacy Policy explains personal-information handling. Nothing in these terms removes a right or remedy that applicable law does not allow us to remove.
2. Agreement and permitted use
Read these terms and the important risk notice before accepting them in the app. If you do not agree, do not activate a subscription or use the paid service. You must be legally able to enter this agreement and have authority to act for any farm or organisation you represent.
Subject to these terms and your applicable trial or subscription, we give you a limited, non-exclusive licence to use the app for lawful livestock recordkeeping and farm administration. You own the records you enter. We and our licensors retain rights in the software, branding, artwork and other supplied content.
You must not resell or distribute the software without permission, bypass payment controls, interfere with the service, or use it to infringe another person's rights. Any restriction on reverse engineering applies only to the extent allowed by law. Open-source components remain subject to their own licences.
3. Important risk notice — read before using the app
Incorrect records, dates, measurements, medication details or calculations can contribute to animal injury or death, unsafe food products, financial loss or missed legal obligations. The app is a recordkeeping and planning tool. It does not replace a veterinarian, qualified adviser, medicine label, physical inspection or your own independent checks.
Before administering medication, independently check the animal and species, current weight, product concentration, dose, units, route, expiry date, contraindications and withdrawal period against the approved label and veterinary directions. Never administer a treatment solely because the app displays a number or reminder.
The app does not diagnose disease, prescribe treatment, certify fitness for sale or slaughter, monitor livestock continuously, or provide emergency assistance. Seek appropriate professional assistance promptly when animals may be ill or injured.
Document imports and label scanning can misread numbers, decimal separators, dates, units and names. Review the original document or label and every imported field before saving or acting. Breeding dates, growth insights and other projections are estimates based on supplied data; they do not guarantee an outcome.
Maps, locations, areas and boundaries may be inaccurate or outdated. They do not establish surveyed property boundaries, ownership, fencing accuracy or safe access. Reminders depend on device settings, permissions, battery management and correct data. Keep independent arrangements for essential work and statutory deadlines.
4. Your records and backups
You are responsible for entering lawful, accurate information, checking changes and protecting access to your device. Obtain the necessary authority before recording information about staff, farm users or other people.
The app stores farm records on the device. A farm remains local unless its owner deliberately enables secure sharing. When sharing is enabled, that farm's animals, groups, camps and boundaries, movements, medication and dosing records, weights, breeding records, tasks, farm-user entries and related changes are copied to our Google Cloud service so that specifically invited signed-in users can synchronise them across devices. Other farms are not uploaded merely because one farm is shared.
The farm owner or a permitted manager controls invitations and roles. Only invite people who are authorised to see the farm information, use the correct email address, and remove access when it is no longer required. A person who leaves or is removed can retain information that was already synchronised to their device; we cannot remotely erase local copies or backups outside our service. The app uses last-synchronised changes when devices reconnect. Keep users informed, review important changes, and resolve any conflicting or unexpected record before relying on it.
The owner can stop sharing from Farms & Users. This removes the shared server copy, current memberships and pending invitations while leaving local copies and exported backups under their respective users' control. A non-owner can leave a shared farm; the downloaded local copy remains until that user deletes it. An online account that owns a shared farm cannot be deleted until sharing is stopped or ownership is dealt with. These safeguards prevent an owner from accidentally deleting other users' shared workspace without a clear farm-level action.
Create regular backups, keep a separate copy, and verify that a backup can be restored. If you enable scheduled backup, the app attempts to create dated JSON files in the folder you select. Android may delay background work, and scheduled backup can fail if the folder is unavailable or permission is lost, so check the last-successful-backup status. The app does not automatically remove old backup files.
Backup JSON files are not password-protected by the app. Protect the files and any storage account you choose. Device loss, storage failure, uninstallation, resetting the app or restoring an older backup may cause records to be lost or replaced. Android's own backup or transfer services depend on device and account settings and are not a substitute for a backup you have checked.
These precautions do not waive any remedy you have for a defect or breach for which we are legally responsible.
5. Free download, trial and subscriptions
Downloading the app is free. Eligible new users receive one month of trial access without providing payment details or starting a paid subscription. The app will explain eligibility and show the trial end date when the trial is activated. When the free month ends, continued paid access requires you to choose and explicitly purchase a subscription through Google Play. No charge starts merely because the free month expires.
A verified app account is required to activate a trial or subscription and to share a farm. You may sign in with Google or by entering another email address and using the one-time secure link sent to it. The free month begins on your explicit activation, using server time, and ends at the corresponding date and time in the next calendar month; where that date does not exist, it ends on the last day of that month. Eligibility is tracked per app account. Resetting or reinstalling the app, restoring a farm backup or deleting local records does not reset it. An account previously used for paid access does not qualify for a new trial. After account deletion, a protected trial-use identifier is retained for up to two years to prevent repeated trials, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
Internet is required for sign-in, purchases and verification. After successful verification, access can work offline for up to 72 hours, within the verified trial or subscription period. Restarting the device requires a new online check. Access restrictions do not automatically delete local farm records; viewing, backup/restore, local-record deletion and subscription management remain available.
- Monthly plan: R120 per month, subject to the final Google Play checkout display.
- Annual plan: R1,200 per year, equivalent to R100 per month, billed as one annual payment rather than monthly instalments, subject to the final Google Play checkout display.
Before any paid purchase, the app and Google Play checkout will display the selected billing period, total charge, renewal conditions and cancellation method. A paid auto-renewing subscription begins only after your explicit confirmation and renews according to the selected plan until cancelled. The free month itself does not authorise payment. Reinstalling the app does not necessarily make an existing user eligible for another free month.
Prices and any applicable taxes must be clear in checkout before purchase. If checkout and an earlier description disagree, resolve the discrepancy before purchasing. We will correct misleading price information; these terms do not override a binding offer or a statutory remedy.
6. Cancellation, refunds and price changes
Manage or cancel a Google Play subscription through Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Uninstalling the app, resetting app data or deleting farm records does not cancel a subscription. Contact us if you need assistance finding the correct subscription.
Cancellation normally stops future renewal while access continues to the end of the already paid period, subject to any refund, revocation, payment failure or mandatory legal rule. Google Play processes payments and refund requests under its applicable policies. Contact us about a service problem as well. Nothing here replaces statutory refund, cooling-off, cancellation, service-quality or other consumer rights; we do not impose a blanket "no refunds" rule.
We will communicate price changes as required by law and Google Play, obtain consent where required, and allow cancellation before a changed recurring charge applies. We will not retrospectively charge for a trial advertised as free.
After access expires, existing records remain on the device. The account screen, saved-record viewer, backup and restore, privacy information, local-record deletion and subscription management remain available, while editing and other paid functions are restricted. Expiry does not delete farm records.
7. Service availability and third-party services
We will exercise the care and provide the remedies required by applicable law. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every device, successful delivery of every reminder, or a particular farming or financial result. Maps, document recognition, app distribution and payments depend in part on third-party services and connectivity.
Use map content only through the app's authorised features. Do not remove required attribution, bulk-download tiles, extract map content for redistribution, or use a provider's service beyond its permitted terms. Any third-party terms we ask you to accept must be accessible before the relevant use.
Shared-farm synchronisation requires internet access and may be delayed when a device is offline, Android suspends the app, authentication expires, or the service is unavailable. Local changes remain queued on that device until a later successful synchronisation. Users must not assume another phone has received a change until the app reports that the farm is up to date.
We may provide updates and make reasonable changes. If we discontinue a paid service or materially reduce it during a paid period, we will provide the notice and remedies required by law, including any applicable refund. Events beyond our reasonable control do not excuse obligations that the law requires us to perform.
8. Liability limits
This section affects compensation you may claim. Read it together with the risk notice and the exceptions below. It applies only where lawful, fair and enforceable.
To that extent, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss, including lost opportunities and consequential lost profits arising from use or inability to use the app. Whether a particular loss is indirect depends on the circumstances; calling it indirect here does not make it so.
For other claims that can lawfully be capped, our total liability for claims arising from the same or related events is limited to the greater of R120 or the subscription fees you paid for Livestock Manager during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These exclusions and limits do not apply to fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability or consumer remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. They do not excuse legally required service quality, refunds, privacy duties or safety obligations. In particular, we do not require you to accept liability for harm caused by our gross negligence. A free trial does not remove your mandatory rights.
9. Unlawful misuse
To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for reasonable third-party losses and defence costs directly caused by your intentional unlawful misuse of the app or infringement of their rights. Your responsibility does not extend to any part of a loss caused by us, an app defect or another person. We will notify you promptly and allow reasonable participation in the defence. We may defend or settle the claim, but a settlement cannot require you to admit wrongdoing or accept a non-financial obligation without your consent.
10. Suspension and termination
We may restrict paid access when a trial or subscription ends, payment is reversed, or there is substantiated unlawful use or a material breach. Where practical and appropriate, we will give notice and an opportunity to correct a breach. Urgent action may be necessary to address a security threat or legal requirement. Suspension does not automatically justify keeping payment for undelivered services; mandatory remedies remain available.
11. Changes, complaints and applicable law
We will identify the version and effective date of these terms and give appropriate notice of material changes. We will request fresh acceptance where required. A new version will not remove an accrued claim or retrospectively change a paid commitment without a lawful basis.

For the proposed South African launch, South African law governs, subject to any mandatory protections that apply in your place of residence. No compulsory foreign arbitration or exclusive foreign court is imposed. If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder continues only to the extent it can operate fairly and lawfully; invalid wording is not permission to impose an unlawful replacement.
